1 year to discover and master the basics of applied arts

ESMA’s Entertainment preparatory course lays the foundations for creative careers in 3D animation, special effects, video games, illustration and concept art. This preparatory year plunges you into the heart of the applied and plastic arts, giving you a solid grounding in the fundamentals: observational drawing, illustration, storyboarding, colour, sculpture, perspective, proportions and volumes.

You’ll develop your artistic culture while experimenting with a wide range of techniques and media. Supervised by professionals, you will explore the main areas of the sector, discover the image professions and refine your career plans thanks to teaching methods based on practice and creativity.

At the end of this preparatory year, you’ll have the essential skills to create your own worlds and start a course in 3D animation, video games or other artistic disciplines with complete confidence.

Explore the world of visual creation

ESMA’s Entertainment Prep course is a fundamental year for acquiring all the essential artistic foundations and building a solid portfolio for admission to higher education courses in 3D Animation, Video Games or Illustration/Concept Art.

After the preparatory course, students go on to specialised courses that give them access to a wide variety of creative and technical professions, including :

  • 3D Animation training: 3D Artist, Environment Artist, Character Artist, Texture Artist, Lighting Artist, Technical Artist, Real-time VFX Artist, 3D Animator, Rigger, Motion Designer.
  • Video Game training: Game Designer, Level Designer, Narrative Designer, Technical Designer, Technical Programmer, UI/UX Designer or Engine Integrator.
  • Illustration / Concept Art training: Illustrator, Concept Artist, Character Designer, Storyboarder, Matte Painter, Visual Development Artist.
