The publication of a white paper to better understand the dynamics of the sector

Since 2023, the 3D animation, special effects and video game industries have been going through a phase of profound readjustment.

After more than twenty years of continuous growth, the sector is facing a combination of economic, industrial and technological factors that are challenging its production models, rhythms and career paths.

It is against this backdrop that ESMA is publishing the White Paper :

3D Animation, VFX & Video Games : Towards a new model?

The document provides a structured overview of the changes underway, combining market data, international analyses and testimonials from working professionals.

This document is based in particular on feedback from around twenty experts and alumni from the sector, now working in leading studios such as Pixar Animation Studios, Ubisoft, DNEG and Fortiche Production.

Their testimonies provide a better understanding of the current tensions in the sector and the dynamics that are reshaping its balance.

Understanding AI and preparing tomorrow’s professionals

This white paper also looks at the place of artificial intelligence in production chains, not as a substitute for creativity, but as a tool whose use must be supervised, understood and controlled.

Finally, the book highlights ESMA’s response to the need to train professionals capable of finding a lasting place in a changing environment, without abandoning the artistic standards that underpin these industries.
