ESMA is proud to announce that its graduation short film DAWN has been selected to take part in the 23rd VES Awards. This is international recognition for a film made by our 3D Animation and Special Effects students.

The VES Awards: a not-to-be-missed event for the visual effects industry

Organised each year by the Visual Effects Society, the VES Awards celebrate the creators of the world’s most impressive visual effects. They reward projects from cinema to TV series, advertising and video games. DAWN is extremely proud to have been shortlisted in the Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project category. This selection places the film alongside work from schools all over the world, and highlights the excellence of the training offered at ESMA.

DAWN: a gripping, realistic adventure

DAWN tells the story of a young sea turtle that has just hatched. With the ocean as her goal, she must face a multitude of obstacles and escape numerous predators in order to survive. This poignant, universal tale combines a captivating narrative with breathtaking visuals. DAWN’s visual effects have already impressed several major festivals. The meticulous attention paid to textures, lighting and animation details immerses viewers in a dazzlingly realistic world. This exceptional quality is what earned DAWN its place among the VES Awards nominees.
