The short film TRASH, made by eight students from the class of 2024, has just won the prestigious Best in Show award at SIGGRAPH 2025, one of the world’s most renowned events for animation and computer-generated images. This is an exceptional accolade for a film that is continuing its meteoric rise through the international festival…

A headlong rush to success

Directed by Maxime Crançon, Fanny Vecchie, Margaux Lutz, Romain Fleischer, Alexis Le Ral, Grégory Bouzid, Robin Delaporte and Mattéo Durant, the short film TRASH has impressed audiences since its very first screening. The film has made a lasting impression with its frenetic pace and unique aesthetic, and this latest SIGGRAPH award is the crowning glory of an already award-winning career.

An alley, a slice of pizza… and a war without mercy

The pitch is as simple as it is effective: in a dark alley, a skinny rat has no choice but to fight a pigeon for a small slice of pizza. The tension is ratcheted up a notch as they embark on a dizzying chase, bouncing up and down the street, between urban obstacles and bizarre situations. The duel is served up by fluid animation.

SIGGRAPH: a global benchmark for success

SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques) is the world’s largest conference dedicated to digital animation, visual effects, virtual reality and interactive innovations. Every year, professionals from all over the world (studios, artists, researchers) come together to share their advances and discover the talents of tomorrow. The Best in Show award is the highest distinction awarded to a student film at the Computer Animation Festival, a rare and precious accolade.
