Amidst the smoking rubble of an exploding building, Jia stumbles forward in panic, fear in her stomach.
His only motivation: to find his mother, whatever the cost.
The film begins with an explosion in a building. A young girl, Jia, rushes through the rubble to find her mother, Nami.
When she discovers her lying dead on the floor, she bursts into tears. As she mourns the loss of her mother, a blue glow appears not far from her.
As she continues to make her way through the rubble, she discovers a gate with her mother inside, still alive.
The portal starts to narrow, so she decides to go through it and realises that she has gone back a few minutes, just before the explosion.
She runs to try and save her, but fails. The machine that caused the accident explodes again and Jia re-enters the portal.
She then tries to approach her mother several times and reason with her, but it’s all to no avail as Nami doesn’t know why Jia is acting like this and refuses to believe her.
Finding the right words, Jia finally makes her understand that she has to leave, but Nami asks Jia to let her go and that there’s no point in fighting to save her.
Jia understands and steps back, as the final explosion takes place. Jia finally lets her mother go and sees the portal close completely.
