In an impeccably maintained luxury building, routine is regulated to the millimetre. The corridors are clean, the surfaces shiny, and every sound is absorbed by the aseptic comfort of well-oiled technology.
Dustin, a small, round and discreet hoover, is one of the domestic robots working tirelessly there, leading a life of silent servitude.
Until, one day, a documentary on a forgotten television screen shows him a world he’s never seen before: the outside world. Wild, luminous, vibrant. And suddenly, a crazy idea springs up in his circuits: escape.
On his way to the front door of his building to try to sneak in, he is dissuaded by Katia, a cold, methodical robot who supervises the building.
He calls the third maintenance robot, Gary, who takes charge of the hoover robot and returns it to its base.
But Dustin doesn’t give up. The next day Dustin makes a second attempt, and ends up injured by Katia.
Gary picks Dustin up again but something has changed, as if he’s realised, and in a gesture of friendship decides to help him get out.
Gary starts to disobey Katia, and the 2 try once again to escape from the building, but Gary is caught by Katia and she wounds him badly.
Gary doesn’t reply, leaving Dustin alone, on the brink of freedom…
