When a deflated balloon creature falls from the sky, plants with astonishing effects take poor Flipou away and re-inflate him with their warmth.
But by sucking up their energy, Flipou puts all his benefactors at risk.
This story shows the sensory journey of a naive being, Flipou.
We see his physical and mental development as Flipou, initially faced with the impossibility of returning home, discovers new sensations thanks to a living, moving environment.
His balloon skin will go through all the phases of the balloon, such as deflating, inflating more and more before exploding, and finally reshaping the balloon into a new shape.
The environment also changes as Flipou crosses it.
First of all, the forest’s warm colours contrast with Flipou’s dark blue, accentuating her difference from this world.
The aquatic world is more in tune with her colouring, and more sensory too, as it’s here that her curiosity is really awakened.
The plants here offer their warmth to Flipou to fill him up, to his detriment as the protagonist returns to take advantage of this and get bigger and bigger, until he destroys everything in his path.
The environment gradually tarnishes and rots before freezing over completely.
All the bioluminescence at the end adds the magical, electric touch needed to make up for the mistakes made by the protagonist.
