Two mice, Owen and his little brother Flynn, take part in a ceremony to select a chosen one from a crowd of followers.
The chosen one is taken to cheese heaven, in exchange for a piece of cheese for the colony.
To become the chosen one, all the mice have to close their eyes, while the Guru lights up the head of the chosen one.
The younger brother tries to put himself forward because he is desperate to be the chosen one, but unfortunately he is not chosen by the guru.
Disappointed, he decides to secretly follow a group of guards escorting the chosen one.
In a corner of the kitchen, Owen discovers the truth: the chosen one is sacrificed on a mousetrap to get the piece of cheese, and Owen is spotted by a guard.
Once the procession had set off again, he saw a large human hand take the body of the elected representative and carry it unceremoniously through a glass door.
Owen is horrified, and at that moment understands all the deception organised by the Guru all this time.
Back in the village, in a state of shock, he is unable to react and comes to his senses at the sound of the ceremony, but Flynn has already left.
He rushes to the ceremony and finds him in the crowd. The guard denounces Owen to the guru, who aims his sceptre at Owen to sacrifice him, but mistakenly points at Flynn.
Desperate, Owen rushes off while Flynn enjoys his moment of glory. In the kitchen, Owen threatens the guru, but an exterminator bursts into the room. In a panic, the mice flee back to the colony and the brothers are separated.
Flynn decides to return to the colony rather than run away with his brother. Owen is confused but runs for his life.
