In the middle of a war, the three soldiers wake up in a crater after an assault.
Isolated, wounded, lost and broken, they have only one objective: to hold on and survive to leave this hell together.
The story begins with an attack.
French soldiers are dying, there are explosions, the screams are covered by the gunfire.
Two soldiers fall into a shell hole to escape an explosion.
They regain consciousness when the attack is over. Edgar is seriously injured.
Jean washes the wound. They both realise that the third young soldier with them is staring into space.
Jean decides they need to find somewhere safer. The three of them help each other out of the shell hole.
They crossed no-man’s-land to reach their trenches.
It’s empty. They need to rest.
Jean finds a refuge where they share a piece of bread. The next day, Edgar’s condition worsened. They had run out of water.
Jean decides to go and get some.
Even though Jean tells the young soldier to stay with Edgar, he puts him on his back and follows Jean shortly after he leaves.
Edgar’s helmet falls to the ground. Edgar is dead.
The young soldier tries to put the helmet back on, but to no avail. Jean joins them and reassures the young soldier.
They walk together through a forest and finally find a small village.
