The film opens with a nest full of eggs beside a stream.

Suddenly, one of the eggs accidentally topples over and falls into the water.

Carried along by a gentle current, it gradually moves away from its nest and continues a long drift along the stream.

After this eventful journey, the egg finally washes up on a bank, where it is soon noticed.

On this bank live two little Beings who devote their time to looking after the forest.

The industrious Chestnut collects water to help a plant grow, while his little brother, the Acorn, has fun running around and exploring the surrounding area.

Their daily routine is suddenly interrupted when they discover this gigantic egg lying in front of them. To their surprise, the egg immediately begins to shake… and then to hatch.

A duckling emerges, giving its very first cry.

After a moment’s mistrust, the two Beings realise that they can hear the worried calls of the duckling’s mother in the distance.

Realising that the boy is lost, they decide to help him find his family and set out to take him home.

And so their journey begins.

Their journey begins as a simple stroll: they follow the stream, pass through various corners of the forest and make their way along a peaceful path.

But their adventure takes an unexpected turn when the trio fall into some kind of dark cavity.

Frightened by the darkness, the Acorn starts to cry. Chestnut, playing his role as protective big brother, tries to reassure him by drawing their silhouettes on the ground, a familiar gesture that has always comforted them.

To complete the drawing, the Acorn fetches a small piece of wood to use as a nose.

But by pulling on this piece of wood, he suddenly triggers a trickle of water that starts to flow.

La Châtaigne tried to stop the flow, but to no avail: the water seeped everywhere and the level rose rapidly in the cavity.

The two Beings have no choice but to climb onto the back of the duckling, which floats naturally. Thanks to the duckling, they manage to climb up and out of the hole, narrowly escaping the flood.

Shortly after this misadventure, the three companions finally find the duckling’s family.

He joins his family and embarks on the beginning of a new life.

As for the two little Beings, they are left with precious memories of this unexpected adventure, marked by mutual aid and discovery.
