On a summer’s evening, a large bumblebee makes its way through the tall grass and into a hollow stump.

A red stoat named Lalao is sleeping peacefully. The insect flies close to his ears and wakes him up. Annoyed, Lalao left his burrow, which had become too noisy for him. He set off in search of a quieter place where he could rest in peace.

Lalao squeezes through the ferns and settles into a quiet spot near some moss-covered rocks. However, the place is already occupied by the greasy snoring of a badger.

He tried to fall asleep, but was repeatedly disturbed by the animal’s bushy tail. Irritated, Lalao turned round and left the forest.

He runs down towards the meadow, where there is a hellish din. He runs, escaping the crescendo of nature’s noise. Suddenly, he is jostled and falls awkwardly.

Stunned, Lalao looks around and realises that he may have found a quiet place to sleep. Relieved, he moves on into this new world and discovers a nest under some large pallets.

Lalao closes his eyes, but a disturbing flickering light keeps him awake. He climbs on unfamiliar stones in the misty darkness. Mysterious shapes rise up around him, giving him the impression of having entered a foreign world.

In the distance, he spots a small spot that looks familiar and reassuring.

Desperate to sleep, he rushes off. He did not yet realise the dangerous adventure he had embarked on. Lalao made clumsy progress, but in the darkness he fell into a hollow. He finds himself trapped between monstrous figures and sharp branches.

Panic-stricken, he runs and finds an exit high in the sky. He climbs the chasm, but is dazzled by bright lights.

Frightened, Lalao takes refuge under some strange cube-shaped roots and slaloms through the dark labyrinth in search of a way out. Without respite, huge masses advance towards him.

He tries to make his way through this terrifying nightmare, but each step becomes more difficult than the last.

He zigzags to avoid the obstacles. His heart is beating faster, he can barely breathe through the clouds of dust. He accelerates. Suddenly, he slips into a tiny hole. He was safe at last. Curled up and trembling, he listens to the strange noises around him.

Everything seemed to be going better when a metallic sound broke the silence. A gigantic mass falls from the sky. Lalao emerges from his hiding place and the mass falls on him, obscuring his vision. The ground shook and he almost fell into an abyss.

Dazed and panicked, he froze, staring into the distant void. He could no longer climb down when everything went black. Disorientated, Lalao moves forward into the disturbing darkness. Suddenly, a siren sounds and a red light flashes erratically, revealing a nightmarish setting. The ground shakes, mechanical clattering comes closer. Lalao froze, gasping in terror.

A mechanism hit him violently, throwing him on his side. He lunged in the opposite direction, but the wheel grazed him dangerously. An infernal din erupts, swells to a climax and then suddenly plunges into dead silence.

The first light of day reveals the slow, silent dance of the chairlift. Further on, Lalao, ejected from the mechanism, slides down a trembling seat. The sun is rising.

Feverish, he takes refuge in the tall grass. The sounds of nature return, replacing the cacophony of the building site. He returns home and crawls into his stump.

He closes his eyes and falls asleep. The peace fades away, revealing a mountainous landscape ravaged by human construction. The melody of nature disappears, replaced by the shrill whistle of machines.
