Held in Japan from 25 May to 10 June, this event is one of the world’s leading short film festivals. A new milestone for this student film, already acclaimed for its artistic and narrative qualities.

A not-to-be-missed festival for international short films

For over twenty years, the SHORT SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL & ASIA has established itself as one of Asia’s leading short film events. Based in Japan, each year it welcomes works from all over the world and offers a particularly demanding programme, combining fiction, documentary, animation and innovative formats.

The festival attracts a wide network of film industry professionals, as well as emerging directors and established talent. Thanks to its international reputation, the festival is a real platform for selected films to gain exposure and meet distributors, producers and programmers.

In addition to its prestige, the SHORT SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL & ASIA has a particularly important status in the festival circuit: it is one of the qualifying festivals for the Oscars. The winning film in the animation category could therefore be entered for the 2027 Oscars, a prospect that underlines the importance of this competition.

Gone Wrong, an award-winning ESMA production

Even before its festival run, Gone Wrong made a name for itself at ESMA, winning the ESMA 2025 GRAND PRIX.

Each year, this award highlights a particularly outstanding work from among the graduation films produced by 3D Animation & Special Effects students.

The film was convincing thanks to its strong universe, its assertive visual identity and its dynamic direction.

Its selection at an internationally renowned festival now confirms the quality of the work accomplished by its authors.

A race against time in the streets of Hong Kong

With its tense, immersive atmosphere, Gone Wrong draws viewers into a story that straddles the line between thriller and horror.

Trapped in her dingy Hong Kong council flat in the middle of the Stream, a young woman has to run for her life without stopping after a blood-sucking parasite appears.

Through this breathless plot, the film develops an oppressive and nervous atmosphere, supported by meticulous art direction and a steady pace. The urban setting and dramatic intensity heighten the impact of this story of survival, which immediately plunges viewers into constant tension.

A team of talented directors

Behind Gone Wrong is a committed and creative team of young artists who have combined their skills to bring this ambitious project to life. Congratulations to :
