The Rookies Schools Week: a glimpse into 3D animation courses

Choosing a 3D animation school is a crucial decision for your creative future. Understanding the course content, finding out about the teaching methods and envisaging a career in the sector are all essential steps before taking the plunge.

This is precisely what The Rookies Schools Week offers. Organised by The Rookies, this international online event brings together schools specialising in digital arts, animation, visual effects and video games. Through presentations and discussions with teaching staff and industry professionals, prospective students can explore different study pathways and gain a better understanding of the opportunities available to them.

For applicants considering studying abroad, these events also provide an opportunity to obtain practical information about study programmes and to better prepare for their study plans.

ESMA 3D: sharing a practical vision of animation training

Taking part in The Rookies Schools Week enables ESMA to showcase the fundamentals of its 3D and VFX courses, and how students develop their artistic and technical skills.

A course in 3D animation requires rigour, creativity and a sound understanding of the various stages involved in bringing a project to fruition. From mastering the tools to creating polished productions, students gradually develop their skills and artistic identity.

Presenting the course at an international event is also a way of engaging directly with those who wish to join the school. The online format enables us to reach candidates from a variety of backgrounds and give them an initial insight into the environment in which they will be studying.

From school to the studio: the journey of Joe Azar, an ESMA alumnus now working at TAT

To illustrate the link between education and working life, ESMA invited Joe Azar, a graduate of the school who now works at TAT, to take part in this presentation.

His career path provides a practical insight into the transition from study to the animation industry. In particular, this account from a former student helps to highlight the skills required in a professional context and gives prospective students a better idea of the opportunities that may arise after completing the course.

Alongside Joe Azar, members of the teaching and academic staff present the course and answer participants’ questions. This complementary approach allows for a cross-fertilisation of perspectives between those who teach and a graduate who is now working in the sector.

International students: planning your course of study at ESMA

Undertaking a 3D animation course in another country raises many questions: which course should you choose, how should you prepare for your arrival, and what can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

ESMA 3D’s participation in The Rookies Schools Week provides an opportunity to address these concerns and highlight the opportunities available to international applicants. The aim is to provide them with the information they need to better understand the course, how it is organised and the stages involved in their study plans.

This international outlook also fosters exchanges with prospective students who share the same ambition: to develop their artistic and technical skills in order to pursue a career in 3D animation.
