The London studio Framestore came to Montpellier to meet the 4th year students of CG Animation and FX MAster Degree. The programme included a presentation of the studio and its projects, followed by a meeting with the students.

The beginning of the year was rich in films to which our former students contributed: Fireheart, Death on the Nile, Moonfall, Notre-Dame brûle, Uncharted or the huge blockbuster The Batman.

ESMA Montpellier welcomed Alexis Wanneroy from the studio Fortiche Production for a conference intended for CG Animation and FX Master Degree students. This studio has developed its scope in a dazzling manner, notably thanks to the Arcane project, a series that has been a worldwide success.

Students from the Prépa Entertainment class took part in a Grand Format workshop in Nantes, during which they were able to create a fresco on the school’s walls. Here is a look at this creation in text and images.

The Alternative Mezosoik film has been selected by ShortsTV to be shown during the 2022 Oscar nominated animated shorts screenings. It will be seen by a large audience including many professionals from the film world.

The students of the CF Animation & FX Master Degree were able to benefit from a digital conference by Dennis Müller, Senior Lighting & Compositing Artist. A quality meeting with a speaker with a solid background among the best studios in the world.

Romain Lavoine, former ESMA student – class of 2016, gave a lecture to all our fourth year CG Animation & FX Master Degree students at the end of December. He talked about several of his achievements, gave advice and answered many questions from the students.

September 2021 saw the first class from Lyon submit their films to the CG Animation and FX Graduation Show. The first, of a long list to come, to join the big family of graduates. One particularity is to be noted: the presence of international students. Indeed, since its opening, ESMA Lyon has given itself an international dimension by offering an English-speaking section that can welcome students from all over the world.

To inaugurate its series of exhibitions dedicated to the world of digital creation, the Campus Créatif welcomes the Ubisoft Montpellier studio. The famous studio, responsible for hits such as Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil, looks back on its 27-year history in Montpellier.

In 2016 the film Sing, had been a great success. The second part, a new production by Illumination Mac Guff Studios, was released during the end of the year. Three former ESMA students, Thibault Stoyanov, Simon Puculek and Anthony Martinet, worked actively on this second part. They share with us their experience acquired during the two years of making this animated film, which was produced under special circumstances, often at a distance, because of the pandemic.
