DNEG Studio Conference

Conférences . 22 Apr. 2022
Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Toulouse

ESMA students from all campuses were able to attend a conference by Double Negative (DNEG), a British CG animation studio. This studio has recently worked on Dune, Stranger Things, Garfield and Sonic.

EXCHANGES BETWEEN PROFESSIONALS AND STUDENTS

Bridget Dash, recruitment manager, and Laura Meredith, human resources manager, presented the studio. In front of the students from Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes and Toulouse, they presented the history of the studio, its locations all over the world and the projects in progress, with Paramount or Netflix. This was enough to inspire the students, who were more than a hundred strong, to follow them.
They then presented the different divisions within the studio: production, technical, artistic… It is important to realise how a studio works in separate divisions but all connected to each other.

The students were then given advice by Bridget Dash and Laura Meredith on interviews and CVs. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses, not hesitating to look for information on the profile of the people who will be conducting the interview, being yourself, preparing your presentation on the day… All of this will help you prepare for future interviews.

Finally, the students were able to ask all their questions to the studio, concerning internships, the average salary in London or the studios and their specialities. They were then invited to contact the recruitment officers to apply for positions at the end of their degree.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE DNEG STUDIO

“We are DNEG” is how the studio introduces its presentation, like a banner. Founded in 1998 in London, DNEG has established itself as one of the leading companies in special effects, animation and stereo conversion for both film and television. Today, the studio has offices in London, Mumbai, Los Angeles, Chennai, Montreal, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Vancouver and Toronto.

The studio has won numerous awards for its work, including 7 Academy Awards (Best Visual Effects), 7 BAFTAS and 18 VES Awards. We can mention some of the many productions to which DNEG has contributed: Dune, Foundation, Tenet, The Matrix Resurrections, No time to Die, Deadpool 2, Atila Battel Angel etc.
