Rendering Artist

The rendering artist colours, paints, sculpts and shapes like any other artist, although its support remains entirely digital.

ESMA’s shorts has reached a very impressive technical level. Always good surprises, completely different story lines : from simple cartoon to hyper realism.

ESMA is really one of the two premiers schools, not just in France, but in the world.

Image rendering or synthesis is the automatic process of generating an image from a 2D or a3D model (using computer programs). The rendering artist colours, paints, sculpts and shapes like any other artist, although its support remains entirely digital.

Rendering is mainly used in video games, animated films, simulators, architectural designs, special effects for television, and design visualization. The techniques and features the rendering artist uses vary from a project to another. Rendering increases efficiency. It is an essential part of the design / construction process.

An artistic sensitivity

Behind the images, there is a know-how, a real artistic sensitivity as well as a strong knowledge of lighting and 3D rendering concepts. A perfect mastery of 3D production software solutions, advanced mathematics (algebra, matrix calculation, differential, integral), the process of graphic production languages (GLSL, HLSL, CG…), a knowledge of OpenGL ES and of the technical constraints associated with development on current mobile platforms is a plus (performance/memory), knowledge in C++, C#, mastery of the fundamentals in modelling, texturing and post-processing effects production, are essential.

The tools of rendering artists are Photoshop, Renderman, Rhinoceros, VRay and AutoCAD, as well as other powerful 3D rendering software. To use them correctly, the professional must be precise with his mouse and keyboard.

Become Rendering Artist
There is a know-how, a real artistic sensibility as well as an in-depth knowledge of lighting concepts and 3D rendering.

Reactive, organized, analytical

Are you interested in this job career ?

Be aware that good analytical skills, as well as the ability to persevere in solving complex problems, are required. Similarly, a real desire for communication, very good

listening skills, make it possible to identify problems, to advise on the solutions to adopt, and on the rendering process that should be used.

The rendering artist is autonomous, organized and reactive, and obviously shows a real interest in original graphic/visual creations.
